What does it mean when someone says to keep your eye on the ball? It usually means to put all your concentration into one thing so that something greater will come out of it. This is exactly what Philippians 1 tells us to do. We should keep our eyes on Christ to receive His eternal grace from the cross, and then we can live our lives in response to that Grace.

The second book of Philippians gives us a number of examples that show us how to live a humble life. Our primary example, however, is that of Jesus. Being in very nature God, He humbled Himself to the cross for us. That’s love and humility.
